Embroidered Skirt

Good morning!
My to sew list is a mile long, and I can finally cross off one item. I found this beautiful hand embroidered tablecloth I would have loved to use but it had an unfortunate coffee stain. I still loved the fabric and embroidery so I decided to make it into a skirt for my Lola. The child's dresser is starting to overflow!

It's so light and airy, perfect for out hot, muggy summer days. Although, how long will it stay white?

Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Winner!

Wow, what a great response to my giveaway! It's nice to know I have company when it comes to my love of vintage sheets. I updated my giveaway post to announce the winner but in case you missed it, congratulation to Heidi! Your package is on it's way!

It was interesting to read all of your comments. Blue took an early lead as favorite colour in vintage sheets. Pink eventually took over, but yellow, orange and green also got lots of love. A few mentioned purple and commented that they are hard to find. I had never noticed, but I also rarely find purple ones.

If you are interested in vintage sheets, I do sell some in my shop. The link is in my sidebar. I would love it if you checked it out. :)

I have a new finished project I will be showing you soon, made with a vintage, hand embroidered tablecloth. Thanks for reading!

It looks like I'm arriving fashionably late to the party. This week is Sew Mama Sew's Giveaway Day! There are hundreds of great giveaways going on from now until Friday May 25th.

I'm happy to participate for the first time! Since I love vintage sheet fabric so much, I have put together a rainbow scrap pack. There are 16 different prints of beautiful vintagey goodness. They are a variety of sizes, some smaller, some close to fat quarter size.  They weight just over 11oz.

To enter, please leave a comment below. I would love to hear what are your favorite colours in vintage sheets. Please make sure I have a way to reach you! I will close comments Saturday morning and pick a winner.

Thank you for visiting le petit cardinal rouge!
Good luck!

Coral Dress - Spring KCWC

I have had this light gauzy cotton shirt for a while and it just didn't fit me properly. Time for a refashion. I don't think I have made anything pink yet for Lola and she'll be three soon. Although close, this doesn't count as pink for me as it's a deep, gorgeous coral colour.

I love an easy refashion!

Plaid Skirt for KCWC

I'm hoping I have found my sewing mojo. I joined the KCWC: Kids Clothes Week Challenge over at Elsie Marley.

I don't think I had touched my machine since January when I made a few neck warmers. Yesterday I made Lola an A-Line skirt with a woolly plaid fabric I had in my stash. I decided to cut the skirt on the bias but cut the waistband on the grain. At the last minute, I decided to hem it with bright yellow bias tape which matches the yellow in the fabric. It's about a size 2.

Boy does she have spirit!

40 Bags in 40 Days

I have had this challenge on my "to do" list for a few months now. The goal? To get rid of 40 bags of stuff in 40 days. Cheryl from A Pretty Cool Life reminded me of this challenge this morning and I'm jumping on board. She wrote a great post explaining it here.

This morning, I'm making a list of areas that need a good purge and then filling my first bag. I always have such a hard time getting rid of stuff. I always think I can still use it, it's still good or I'll need it as soon as I get rid of it. However, my closets are jammed, the toy room overflows and my office, well, let's not even go there. Wish me luck!

Where to start? I think I'm going to need another cup of coffee...

Valentine's Day Lunch

Who doesn't love a surprise in their lunch box?

Yes, Charlie's lunch today is entirely heart shaped. I included sandwiches, cheese, strawberries, kiwi and eggs, along with a valentine and some heart-shaped stickers. Did you know you can shape hard boiled eggs? I followed the tutorial here. I still need some practice but they turned out pretty cute for a first try.

Happy Valentines day!

Blogger's Choice Fat Quater Bundles

You may have noticed I'm a little obsessed with fabric. Laura over at Quokka Quilts is enabling me by hosting a contest called Blogger's Choice Bundle. Bloggers choose 12 prints and 3 solids from the Fat Quarter Shop and make a mosiac displaying their choices. I was inspired by Lola's nursery and decided to go for pinks and greens.  It's really a neat contest and there are lots of entries. I'm off to check out the competition :)  Meanwhile, here are my choices.

It was my first time combining fabrics online. I would love some feedback. What do you think?
The lucky winner of the contest will win their bundle, in half-yard lengths. Amazing! Wish me luck!
